My 15 minutes of fame have been extended

By now many of you have heard about my win in the Perdue Verifiably Good Video Contest back in April. Especially after I less than humbly declared myself the Chicken King, albeit of North Carolina and its sovereign territories.

The win was picked up by a few local news outlets, including the food blog of the Charlotte Observer. A few weeks after the dust appeared to settle I got an email from the Observer asking if I would be interested in being featured in a story just before Father’s Day.

Having never been interviewed for any personal achievement like that before I eagerly said yes.

The article, At Home with Daddy, came out yesterday and needless to say I was very flattered by it. Also, I was very surprised at how big it ended up being, as it took up most of the front page of the Carolina Living section and nearly another page inside.

Not only was it a great article, but it was also the first time that any of the recipes that I’ve created have ever been published anywhere other than on my blogs.

I’d like to thank Kathleen Purvis for reaching out to me and putting together such a great article.

My only point of disagreement is that I don’t know that I can say I’ve ever been “fan girl” crazy. I’ll only admit to man crushes :)

I'm so happy your 15 minutes of fame were extended! I really liked the article and the photo of you and your adorable son! You really are a “blogging fool.” It's amazing how you've taken something like blogging and turned into another career. You will be well prepared to tackle the job market when you return because you haven't sat still. Good for you! But then again, according to the article, you are a go-getter. Congrats, again, on the article. It's a great read.

I'm expecting about 8 minutes at some point in my life. I'm not talented enough for the full 15.
