25 Odds and Ends About Me

in Everything Else

Yesterday I was tagged by DC Urban Dad in a meme where I had to answer some questions about myself. At first I was pretty excited because I had no decent post ideas rattling around, but then I was a bit disappointed because they weren’t true or false.

Still, I soldiered through it, because it was either this or a post I had been laboring over about the date night my wife and I had this past weekend. After three hours of staring at my laptop the best I could come up with was barely a tweet:

In any event, here’s some more fun odds and ends about me.

1. Name someone with the same birthday as you. Peter Frampton

2. Where was your first kiss? Front step of my high school girlfriend’s house

3. Have you ever seriously vandalized someone else’s property? The terms of our settlement prohibit me from discussing it

4. Have you ever hit someone of the opposite sex? Never

5. Have you ever sung in front of a large number of people? Other than the millions of adoring fans in my head?

6. What’s the first thing you notice about your preferred sex? Probably what you’re thinking

7. What really turns you off? A sense of entitlement and whining about not being happy. Dr. Leary, care to expound? (NSFW)

8. What do you order at Starbucks? I don’t drink coffee, but on occasion I’ll order a Caramel Apple Cider

9. What is your biggest mistake? Forgoing my final year of college eligibility

10. Have you ever hurt yourself on purpose? No

11. Say something totally random about yourself. I’m horrible at video games

12. Has anyone ever said you looked like a celebrity? Don’t think so, but if yes, then they are probably on the D list

13. Do you still watch kiddie movies or TV shows? Yes, occupational hazard

14. Did you have braces? Yes, and headgear

15. Are you comfortable with your height? Sure

16. What is the most romantic thing someone of the preferred sex has done for you? Said ‘yes’.

17. When do you know it’s love? I can’t tell you but it lasts forever

18. Do you speak any other languages? Je voudrais nourrir vos bouts du doigts aux loups, translation: I would like to feed your fingertips to the wolves. That, ladies and gentlemen, is all I remember of my three years of French. Well, that and Je m’appelle Pierre

19. Have you ever been to tanning salon? Nyet – Huh, guess I know a little Russian too :)

20. Have you ever ridden in a limo? Vegas, baby!

21. What’s something that really annoys you? Right now? The fact that I can walk into a Target,  pay a $4 co-pay and get the H1N1 vaccine for myself, but I can’t get it anywhere for my son. In general, stupid drivers.

22. What’s something you really like? Bacon

23. Can you dance? Only when copious amounts of alcohol are involved

24. Have you ever been rushed by an ambulance into the emergency room? Thankfully, no

25. Tag 5 people! Melisa, WeaselMomma, Life of a New Dad, The Devoted Dad and Steely Dad

nyet was a particularly nice touch!

I think you sent all the idiot drivers my way. You can have them back.

I am not allowed to turn anyone down who uses a John Belushi clip to answer a question. It is just one of life's rules, like the godfather and his daughter's wedding day.

You and Peter Frampton share the same birthday? GETOUT!!!

Very cool! I took two years of French and I didn't remember that much. No Russian though!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Classic video, that I have not seen in a while. Nice answers.

No way will I ever complete one of these lists! i have a twin sister so of course I've hit someone of the opposite sex :-) I too might choose bacon as a favorite food.

Ouch. Those are some crap questions, but some pretty good and interesting answers.

That's about all the Russian I remember from the time I spent in Moscow early in my career. Well, that and 'nas da rovia', but I didn't have any vodka :)

Unfortunately I think their like bunnies, they multiply fast.

Classic! Got to love those bored teenage years. Translating SNL skits into French was one of the only things that kept us interested.

I know, pretty cool right? He's never sent me a card back, though. And I've had to stop sending him cards on account of the court order.

I'm still kicking myself for not taking Spanish. And the only reason I learned some, ok very little, Russian was because I was there for work a few times in the mid nineties – wow, that made me feel old :)

Thank you, and I hope you and the family have an excellent Thanksgiving.

I was very happy to have found that one. Comic genius at work.

When you're searching for some blog fodder they are good to have a little fun with. Plus lists are always search engine friendly :)

PJ Mullen November 25, 2009 at 8:35 am

HAHAHA! Yes, but I know you'll come up with some answers that are even better than my half wit sarcasm.

GREAT SNL reference!
Thanks for the tag; I love a good meme now and then. :)

Ha! Back when SNL was the best. Kind of amazing that translating SNL into French is the extent of my memory of the language. Looking forward to your answers.
