About

Real Men Drive Minivans chronicles the adventures in fatherhood of PJ Mullen, a work at home dad, who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife, 2 year old son and infant daughter. He is an amateur chef, wannabe author, blogging fool, recovering football addict and prolific air drummer.

He began blogging to start a conversation on all the things that were important to him. Alternating between attempts at humor and being insightful, he likes to talk about his life as a dad, his responsibilities as a husband, the failed career path that got him where he is today and how a dad’s place is in the kitchen.

When he is not manning the captain’s chair here, he probably can be found at peaches en risotto.

He also blogs professionally for Sweatshirt Blanket over at The Sweatshirt Blanket Blog. In April 2010 he launched the Spread Your Warmth campaign for them where charitable causes are profiled for a chance to win customized merchandise each month.

If you have a charitable cause you are particularly passionate about, they’d love to hear more about it.  You can submit your charity via the online Nomination Form and, if you are so inclined, you can show your support by grabbing a Campaign Button for your site or blog.

Also in April 2010 PJ won the Perdue Verifiably Good Video Contest for his entry Braciole di Pollo, which he subsequently turned into a chicken sausage recipe just for the fun of it. As a result of his win he was featured in the article At Home With Daddy in the Charlotte Observer in June 2010.

Since starting this blog he has been asked to review books on fatherhood, as well as a review on new technology from Sony that appealed to his inner gadget freak. Additionally, PJ was one of two dad bloggers in attendance at the Nestle Family Happy, Healthy Gathering event that took place in Glendale, California in September 2009.

If you’d like to contact him, the best way is to drop him a note by going to his Contact page.
