Chicago may have Abe Froman the Sausage King, but Charlotte has me, the Chicken King!
Back in early March I wrote about my entry into my very first cooking competition in a post entitled Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner. Well, I’m pleased to report that yesterday my dish, Braciole di Pollo, was awarded the grand prize in the Perdue Verifiably Good Video Contest.
The risk I took in making a dish that couldn’t be labeled “quick” or “easy” and certainly required more than five ingredients paid off in a big way. My prize consisted of a $500 cash award, a year worth of free Perdue chicken (in the form of coupons) and, of course, bragging rights in the great state of North Carolina.
In all seriousness I’m humbled that my dish was chosen as the winner. I felt confident when I submitted my entry that I did the best that I could and was thrilled just to have a chance to win when it was announced that I was a finalist.
I’d like to thank Perdue for holding this contest, the judges for their graciousness and kind words about my video and Luke Armour with Fleishman Hillard for giving me the heads up. Also, I would be remiss if I didn’t congratulate my fellow finalists who certainly provided tough competition in this contest.
If you are interested in checking out the finalist videos, then check out the Perdue Verifiably Good contest site.
If you’d like the recipe, then hop on over to peaches en risotto where I’ve got the full details, as well as a few presentation ideas.
My win has inspired me to seek out other contests like this that I can enter. Who knows I could end up on the Cooking Channel with my own show someday.
Then again, I could always hang up the apron and retire with a perfect record
