Five years

in Fatherhood Friday, Marriage

Michelle & MeAt times it seems like it has been longer.

On the other hand it feels like it has all gone by in the blink of an eye.

Five years, today.

Life is but a series of moments and all the days before we met was just the opening act.

Sometimes it is difficult to not only recognize these moments, but have the wisdom to do everything in your power to seize them.

Five years ago today my life was immeasurably altered.

A new path took shape, a different course, a different calling.

Five years, today. And I would never change a thing.

Happy first date-iversary.

I love you.

  • Congratulations! I too remember my wife and my first date, which was 5 years ago last March. Wow, seems like yesterday, and yet a lifetime ago cause so much has happened since then. Can't wait for our date next weekend! We haven't been out on a date since before our baby was born. -Jason
  • Exactly, isn't it crazy how fast things can happen - and you have two kids! I did my best to recreate our first date dinner at home Friday since my wife had to work the weekend and then I'm leaving for nearly a week. We've only had two or three nights out sans child in the last year and a half and we need to remedy that situation soon.
  • OK, that is one of the sweetest things I have read: "Happy first date-iversary."...gonna have to remember that, and use it...Congrats to you both!
  • Thank you very much, I appreciate that.
  • wow, you are a better man than I. I don't remember my first date with my wife. But I guess wherever and whatever it was, it worked.

    Congrats!
  • Ha! That is all the matters. Our first date wasn't that long ago, check in with me in about 10 years :)
  • CONGRATS!
  • Thank you! I hope you and Mr. Weasel had a good time and the party.
  • Congrats Bud..

Our "firsts" anniversaries are only a day apart..
  • That's pretty cool, happy first dateiversary to you and the Mrs.
  • congrats! wishing you many more.
  • Thank you very much, I appreciate that
  • What a good dude you are for remembering the first date. Happy date-iversary.
  • Fortunately for me it is the little things with my wife. Thank you.

    Sweet. Nicely done.
  • Thanks, man.
  • Aww, that was truly very sweet. How blessed you are to have one another!
  • Thank you very much, I appreciate that.
  • Very sweet post. My wife and I joke that we're still on our very first date as we've been together ever since (I think you've inspired me to write about it, actually).
  • That's funny, we joke that we are still on our second date. We went to the Renaissance Festival, then went shopping to dinner and finally watched a movie at her house. I'm pretty sure it would go down as the longest single date in history. I should contact the Guinness people. And by that I mean the records people, not Arthur and his friends. Although, that would taste better :)
  • "Life is but a series of moments and all the days before we met was just the opening act."

That's very poetic. Thinking about first date nights can be fun. My wife and I rehash ours all the time. She will point out stuff like, "Oh, those are the socks you wore on our first date!"
  • Thanks man, when the course of your life turns on a dime it is something you can't forget. Actually, we do the same. Every once in a while when we actually get dressed up to go out I'll ask her if those are "first date shoes" or "first date top".

Try 11 years married tomorrow! Or 18 years of being together on Dec. 5th. You think yer old! HA! (Glad you are even happier than you were 5 years ago with Michelle!)
  • Yes, I'm an amateur compared to you, but in no way do I think I'm old. Well, maybe when I get out of bed in the more and the knees don't cooperate, but at least I have comfort in the fact that you will always be older than me by 51 weeks :)
