Today I’d like to dedicate my Fatherhood Friday post to all the awesome Moms who I hope will all have a Happy Mother’s Day on Sunday. To me it is important to recognize the amazing women that actually married us and, even after that, saw fit to bare our children, not just on Mother’s Day, but every day. After all if it weren’t for these fine ladies we wouldn’t be blessed with the sons and daughters that bring a measure of joy and happiness to our lives that we most likely didn’t think was possible. Yes, even beyond all our hometown sports teams sweeping their respective annual championships.
Sunday will be my wife’s second Mother’s Day and, unfortunately, she will be at work for her regularly scheduled weekend at the hospital. Fortunately, she has Monday off, so little man and I will be busy entertaining her and cooking up some of her favorites. It won’t be dramatically different than most low-key days that we spend at home as a family, because we always try our best to enjoy the precious few moments that do we get to spend together. Still, since little man is too young to really understand the spirit of the day, I will be sure to do everything I can to make her day special. I may even concede control of the remote for a few hours.
In closing I want to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to my mom without whom I would not be the man I am today. To my grandmother who I don’t get to see very often, but who is always in my thoughts. To my mother-in-law who has made me feel so welcome as part of the family and is the reason for one of the two greatest gifts in my life. To all my friends’ wives that are moms, somehow we all lucked out and tricked woman we probably don’t deserve into being our partners on this crazy ride through life. And last, but certainly not least, all the cool moms here visiting my little corner of the interweb. My hope is that your special day is everything you wished for and more.
Happy Mothers Day!
