Looks like we are in a similar boat, which drew me to the posting. Our daughter is 22 months lets us know when she has something in her diaper, which made us think she might be ready to start “exploring” the potty as well. She hates getting her diaper changed – squirms like hell! She likes to say “potty”, flushes the toilet, and will sit briefly, like your son, but not until yesterday was there any real progress. Yesterday, my wife was changing my daughter's diaper and could tell she was ready to urinate again (how, I'm not sure – motherly intuition, I guess), so she ran her to the toilet, sat her on there and there was a little bit of urinating happening. We cheered like hell, which our doctor recommended if she were to deliver on the potty.

Like you, we are far away from potty training (in my book), but this was definitely an interesting milestone and we will try to build on it. Right now we're planning the last 2 weeks of the year, as both my wife and I will be off and can concentrate on the effort.

That's great that he's so curious. Our oldest girl had an unhealthy fear at first. I'm not sure where it came from, so I'm glad your little guy is ready to hop on up.

Two toilet training's down and one to go. We were lucky enough to be on holidays when our last two were ready. The weather was hot so indoors we kept them bottomless the whole time and used their 'accidents' to point out where things should go. Both times we got home with toilet trained kids. Wouldn't want to do this at home though – too many carpeted rooms.
