(It’s ok, my wife is totally cool with it)
Everyone, meet Elsa. Elsa, meet everyone.
The moment we have been waiting for the past 39 weeks finally came. Our little baby girl graced us with her presence this morning at 3:16.
Mom and baby are doing well. Big brother is having fun playing with all the knobs and buttons in our hospital room and I’m running on pure adrenaline.
The differences between labor and delivery experiences were striking, but my wife was a total trooper. With our son she was in labor for about 20 hours and it took her about an hour of pushing to deliver him because of how he was positioned. Baby girl, however, had very different plans for her arrival.
My wife started having contractions late Sunday night. We monitored them for a few hours until we finally got the go ahead from the doctor to head in to get checked out. After arriving at the hospital at 1:45am we finally got to meet out little girl an hour and a half later. Unfortunately for my wife things progressed so rapidly that the epidural was essentially useless.
We are getting used to dealing with a newborn all over again. It is a bit surreal to us that just two short years ago our son was this small.
It has been fun to make note of the similarities of the siblings, as their physical characteristics and mannerisms are alike in many ways. Then there are the differences that make them unique like our baby girl’s full head of dark brown hair, which is by far the softest thing I have ever felt in my life.
It has been an amazing day for us and we feel incredibly blessed.
Welcome to the world sweet girl. You are loved more than you will ever know.
