Midnight Feedings #10: Fourth and Food Edition

I hope everyone had a very happy 4th of July weekend.  Around these parts it meant celebrating with german food, czech beer, canadian rock music and, of course, ice cream – a little melting pot, just like our forefathers had intended.  Before we headed home from our family trip in June I made a quick pit stop to the local German butcher and picked up some nice bratwurst for our holiday cookout.  I also made a southern German potato salad, cole slaw and frikadeller.  It was a good feast and a great time relaxing with my family.

If you’ve come around RMDM with any regularity, you know that I love to cook.  Since I haven’t done a RMDM Kitchen post in a while, I figured I’d use today’s edition of Midnight Feedings to highlight some cooking blogs that I’ve come across in my browsing travels.  I’m always looking to expand my repertoire and find new, healthy recipes to make for my wife and son.

I recently discovered Stay at Stove Dad, a cooking blog about a dad who rules the kitchen in his home.  There are several interesting recipes that look good, especially this Summer Bulgur Shrimp Salad recipe on a hot day .

Another really great looking blog, including some really inviting pictures of the finished product, is Chef Fresco.  Their Chicken Coconut Curry Quinoa sounds tasty and is on the list of things my wife would like me to make for her.

Finally, I’m not afraid to admit it, but I have a man-crush on Chef Eric Ripert.  This restauranteur and Top Chef judge has a blog called Avec Eric and I love his series ‘Get Toasted’ where he offers recipes that are made entirely in a toaster oven.

I don't like to cook. I have no talent for it. But, I'm a very appreciative diner. I love when someone cooks for me, especially those who have a talent for preparing great meals. You can cook for me anytime and I will bring great beverages to the table. I ususally don't cook because, well, I want everyone to remain healthy.
I will check out the recommended Web sites because I'm curious and I can always pass the recipies on to those in my family (my husband, my youngest) who cook and cook well.

Hey, you have to play to your strengths. I always appreciate a good beverage with a meal, you'd be welcome at my table anytime. My wife doesn't like to cook either, which is partly the reason I am the family cook. The other reason is I really set the bar too high for myself the first time I cooked for her, but I'll save the rest of that story because its part of a guest post series I'm doing on another blog soon :)
