Dad is Great, Gave Me Whole-Wheat Pancakes. Yesterday morning I had a craving for pancakes and made some nice whole wheat and oatmeal ones. The whole time I was eating my breakfast my son, who had already had his breakfast as well as a yogurt snack, wouldn’t leave me alone unless I let him sample my pancakes. Since my wife wasn’t interested in having any with me I saved the batter and made him his own pancake this morning much to his delight. While he ate the pancake, it wasn’t nearly as interesting for him as it was when it was on MY plate. So, maybe that’s the key to getting him to try new things…hmmm.
Oscar the Disgruntled Trash Can Inhabitant? My wife was reading a Sesame Street book to our son the other day and it kept referring to Cookie Monster simply as Cookie. I don’t know what it was but it bothered me and I had to do a quick search of other Sesame Street related things to see if they got rid of the ‘Monster’ part of his name. Surely, they didn’t sanitize Sesame Street? I mean what’s wrong with him being a monster? Was it too scary for kids? Fortunately, my fears were relieved when I found another book referring to him as Cookie Monster. But for a brief minute my mind had jumped to all kinds of crazy conclusions as to what else they might have changed.
iPhone watch, 47 days and counting: June 6th just can’t get here fast enough for me. I absolutely cannot wait to tell Verizon where to go and order my iphone. While I’m not terribly enthused with giving AT&T more of our money every month I’m a gadget freak that has an itch to scratch. I’ve got my birthday money in hand and am ready to go.
The Super Bowl of the Offseason Cometh: This weekend the NFL will hold its annual millionaire minting event and I, for one, am a big draft junkie. My first blog was an NFL draft blog (http://www.draftnuggets.com) that focused on putting the draft in historical perspective. We had no interest in prognostication since there are plenty of Mel Kiper’s out in the world these days. I dropped the ball on creating content after the birth of my son, which lead to that blogs demise, and this year I really miss talking about football and the draft. You can be sure that I will be in front of my TV at 4:05pm on Saturday watching every minute of the spectacle that the draft has become. Ridiculous for sure, but I’m an addict.
