Tell Me Thursday: His future’s so bright…

Sunglasses

With the recent spring ahead it has become easier for us to talk walks as a family after my wife gets home from work.  So, for the past few days we have been able to get little man into his stroller and head out either before or after I’ve made dinner for everyone.  This past Friday it was still quite sunny, so we also had a chance to break out the sunglasses we recently bought him.  After a few attempts we finally managed to get him to leave the sunglasses on his head while we were out for our walk and I couldn’t resist using the camera on my phone to snap a few pictures.

Surprisingly, he left the sunglasses on for almost the entire walk.  We had tried on at least two other occasions to get him to wear them to no avail.  The sunglasses themselves were an impulse Amazon purchase by my wife a week or two before I took that picture.  They were kind of expensive for kids sunglasses, but weighing the cost against protecting his little eyes from any damage was worth it to us.

When the shipment from Amazon arrived I excitedly got them out of the packaging and immediately put them on his head.  These particular glasses came with a strap you can adjust so that they fit snugly against the back of his head.  It seemed like kind of a convenient feature until he promptly grabbed them, ripped them off his face and snapped off the insanely delicate little post that clipped the strap to the ends of the glasses.  Needless to say I was a little more than annoyed that he broke the sunglasses in a nanosecond, but we liked the them (they are reversible so no matter how you put them on they are always right side up) and decided to keep them.  I will, however, be expressing my displeasure to the manufacturers – who shall remain nameless unless they fail to remedy the situation!

I think kids can destroy most anything quickly. They kiddie gear out of that ridiculously tough rubber substance that they use to make some dog toys. That could withstand anything.

I agree…he's done his fair share of damage, but you should have seen how ridiculously thin the clip was…it was laughable…if the manufacturer doesn't do something about it, I'm going to write a FAIL post about the design and customer service experience…these things were like $35…

That's always the problem with the toddlers that they do not wear sunglasses. No matter how hard we try.
