Testing out the new camera

by PJ Mullen on October 30, 2009

in Fatherhood Friday

With the Great American Post escaping me for a second straight week, I bring you some pictures I took with my new camera.  I finally took the plunge and bought a digital SLR and, as you can see, I barely know how to use it.

We got a DSLR when our little girl was born…I'm getting the hang of it, but still need some work.

Whatever camera you're using is immaterial because your kiddo is cute no matter what. And he's certainly going to give you ample opportunity to test that thing out.

GAWD, he's cute. I love the one of him in the corner cabinet.

Keep on shooting. You'll get the hang of it.

Are you sure this isn't the great American post? What a cutie! That face is so expressive. I'm sending your little man a virtual hug. Your camera skills are fine.

What a cute kiddo! Seems like there wasn't too much to get the hang of to take these photos because they're pretty good. But then again, I guess there may be tons more that we haven't seen. Ahhh, the benefit of digital! -Jason

P.S. Would you mind gleaning my email , and sending your mailing address please? I forgot to ask for it when you won ;-)

Many Thanks!

I've only had the guts to take it off full auto once. I managed to get some great shots in sport mode when my son was walking/running in a Halloween parade. There is still going to be a big learning curve.

Thanks! Well, he is kind of fast, so I needed something where I could control the shutter speed. The old point and shoot was way to slow. Now I can ALMOST keep up with him :)

Thank you. I've tried everything to keep that cabinet shut, but nothing will lock it down, so that is one of his favorite places to hide.

I did pretty good this weekend, I used the sport mode during the Halloween parade as he ran around like a maniac. I got some good shots. Still a lot left to learn, but I'm having fun.

Thanks! Well, I still have some work to do, the camera was on autopilot, I just had to push a button. Baby steps.

Two words: Full Auto :) Wait til I ditch the crutches, then we'll see what happens.

Thanks! I'm really enjoying playing around with it. I even managed to get our family holiday picture taken Sunday. Thank goodness for the timer function! I'm email you now.
