The Scoop on ‘It’s Looney Tunes’

It's looney tunes

Nearly two weeks ago we went to a local mall to do some shopping. We have a family wedding we will be attending up in the northeast and both my wife and I are sorely in need of upgrading our wardrobes.

I managed to sneak away earlier in the week to get fitted for a new suit, which I am happy to say is four sizes smaller than the last suit I purchased nearly five years ago. As a result, this trip was all about finding a dress for my wife since nothing she owns fits her.

After having a baby we totally expected that, but for her it is in a good way because everything is too big. Going on the no dairy, soy, peanuts or tree nuts diet to be able to continue nursing had a dramatic effect to say the least.

About two hours in we made a quick trip into Stride Rite to get little man’s feet checked out. We had purchased two pairs of shoes for him back in the spring when they were running a big sale and wanted to make sure that they would be the appropriate size for the fall.

Having been given a bit of freedom from his otherwise captive position we knew there was no way he was going to get back in there willingly. So, when we saw this little playground just outside of the store, we knew exactly what we needed to do.

It's looney tunes

Let him run around like a maniac and wear himself out!

We let him loose in this playground that was filled with various Warner Brothers’ characters and he had a grand time. After about half an hour of playing he started to wear down.

Dad Blogs

It was pretty late to begin with since we were delayed in starting our shopping expedition. As we prepared to hit the final store for the night he insisted on being carried by Mommy for a little bit, but soon went back into the stroller without any major objections.

The pictures are great. Looks like he had a great time. It's been a long time since my little guy was that little.

When I was 14, the parks and rec department of the City of Corvallis (OR) saw fit to put me in charge of a baseball team of 4-year-olds. The first lesson I learned was that you had to make them run laps for at least 15 minutes before you could get any coaching done. I do the same thing now in preschool. When they're wound up we do a whole bunch of songs that make them jump up and down, etc. It's one of the most important parenting techniques!

I needed a little explanation. I thought those were probably daffy's feet in the other picture, but I wasn't sure. I am glad we got that cleared up.

That is a really cool mall playground. When I first started reading I assumed that you just found one of those Warner Brothers stores to visit.

    Congrats on the weight loss!

Yeah, that probably wasn't the best picture to use for the WW post, I just liked the expression on his face.

It was a pretty cool little playground. It is in the newest mall in our area and they went all out when they built it. I guess it is to keep the parents there and spending for as long as possible. And thank you very much, still have a ways to go, but it was satisfying to see the progress quantified.

Absolutely, that technique has moved up to the top of our list of things to remember. When we travel next week we plan on running him ragged before it is time to leave for the airport in hopes that he'll pass out.
