Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

Well, I did it. I entered my very first cooking contest.
In entering the recipe that I did I also took a big risk. Even though the rules of the contest didn’t stipulate that the recipe had to be something simple or easy to prepare, I felt no matter what it was necessary for [...]

The Scoop on ‘The Bouncy House’

The weekend before last we had an opportunity to attend a second birthday party for the son of our good friends who live down the street. Last year little man was just over two months old, so we made a quick appearance to get him fed and down for one of his many naps. It is amazing how so much can change in a years time.

Our friends threw a great party with lots of fun stuff for the kids to do. They even had train rides through the neighborhood, literally. They found this guy that outfitted his riding lawn mower with a train engine body that pulls four passenger cars. After everyone got strapped in and heard the safety lecture, he let the birthday boy chart the course. Little man didn’t know what to make of this and just kept looking up at me wondering when he was going to be able to get out and play.

Well, he didn’t have to wait long, because after we finished riding the rails and ate a quick lunch the bouncy house appeared. At first he was intrigued by it, mostly because of the noise that the blower makes to inflate the thing. I couldn’t keep him away from it and actually it got kind of annoying. Since he is a little guy I held him out of the house until all of the bigger kids had their turn and eventually lost interest. Once their interest waned he jumped in and bounced around to his hearts content. As you can see from yesterday’s post it got him completely exhausted, which was nice for me since mommy had to work that day and he was way overdue for a nap.

  • Sorry I haven't been around in a while. I love the new look.

I hope the train lawn mower guy had an Engineer Fred cap.
  • Thanks man, I appreciate it. Still have some things I'd like to do, but don't know how to do them, yet :) No worries, I know you are swamped.

He was totally dressed up like Choo Choo Charlie the Engineer (am I dating myself with that one?). He really played up the part.
