Theis in a . It’s the boring news as the brand abandons a physical copy of the book so often relegated to the glove box. The coolest news is that this move comes with the introduction of Toyota Driver’s Companion, better known as Joya. Joya is a Google Cloud-based artificial intelligence that can answer all of your questions regarding the new digital user manual.
The brand on Thursday unveiled the new technology, which is smart enough to understand questions such as “How does the bird’s-eye camera work?” Joya will extract a specific part of the user manual for your smartphone and show you photos and graphics of the system or feature to explain things even better. All of these functions are in the Toyota app for your phone, so it’s always there to help. What’s even better is that owners can enter their VIN and get a personalized experience for their vehicle. In fact, Joya’s intelligence can even help diagnose why a check engine light is on. Bored? Ask Joya for a quiz to learn more about the Sienna and all of its family transport features.
Toyota said this new digital owner’s manual is just a pilot program for now. At this point, Joya and all of these features are only available with the 2021 Sienna, but it seems inevitable that the program will expand to more cars sooner rather than later.
