With the redesigned 2021 Toyota Sienna, the Japanese automaker has gone in a new direction. The automaker gave the minivan a sharp design and available XSE trim that brings sport-tuned suspension and available 20-inch wheels. Now, with the 2022 model year, Toyota plans to tackle another frontier: off-road. The 2022 Toyota Sienna Woodland Special Edition arrives with all-wheel drive, increased ground clearance and a rugged design to allow owners to go on an outdoor adventure.
This is the first time we’ve seen a Woodland special edition from Toyota and it’s surprising since minivans aren’t considered rugged off-road vehicles. Toyota is trying to change that by giving the Woodland special edition some cool features. The Special Edition comes with all-wheel drive and an additional 0.6 inches of ground clearance. The rugged Sienna also has a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, which matches other models in the minivan lineup.
While all-wheel drive and extra ground clearance will help riders tackle the majority of light trails, the Sienna Woodland Special Edition also adds roof rails with crossbars and a 1,500-watt power outlet for increased versatility. Additional features of the special-edition van include black badging, 18-inch wheels, dark chrome accents, black sport seats with unique stitching and an exclusive cement paint job. Of course, the Sienna still comes with a variety of convenience features, including a 12-speaker JBL audio system, heated front seats, the trademark Split and Stow third-row seating, and side-opening sliding doors. kick.
The Woodland Special Edition comes with the same hybrid powertrain as the other Sienna models. That means power comes from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors and a battery. Combined power is rated at 243 horsepower.
Toyota has yet to announce pricing for the 2022 Sienna Woodland Special Edition, so we can’t say if the changes are worth it. Since the Woodland Special Edition doesn’t bring many unique touches, we suspect it will fall between the Limited ($47,875 with destination) and Platinum ($51,075) trims.
We’ve seen quite a few special editions from Toyota lately. The automaker released Tacoma Trail Special Edition and Nightshade Special Edition, 4Runner Trail Special Edition, Corolla Hatchback Special Edition, Tundra Trail Special Edition, 4Runner Venture Special Edition, Corolla Edition Apex and the Land Cruiser Heritage Edition in the latest two models. years. We haven’t seen a Special Edition Sienna lately, so the Woodland Special Edition brings something unique to the minivan.
Consumers have more choice than ever when it comes to off-road and adventure packages. Recently, we saw Ford introduce an Off-Road Tremor package for Ranger and Super Duty pickup trucks, while Subaru released the 2022 Outback Wilderness – the toughest, most capable Outback the brand has ever made. As more consumers look to get their vehicles off the road, more automakers are offering vehicles that are ready to get dirty.
